These
small shrimp are commonly used as live food, but are also available as a community
fish. Often sold as river shrimp they are harmless omnivorous scavengers,
suitable for any aquarium. They should have a lot of plant cover and will
eat some algae. As they are simply seen as food to some larger fish, as always
care should be taken when choosing tank mates. They should be fed algae wafers
and shrimp pellets supplemented with some (organic) vegetables and commercial
frozen foods like artemia.
